HOUSE SPECIAL COMMITTEE ON FISHERIES March 5, 1997 5:00 p.m. COMMITTEE CALENDAR PRESENTATION: NATIONAL MARINE FISHERIES SERVICE INCLUDING OBSERVER AND BYCATCH POLICIES IN ALASKA'S EXCLUSIVE ECONOMIC ZONE. TAPE(S) 97-8, SIDE(S) A & B 97-9, SIDE(S) A CALL TO ORDER Representative Austerman, Chairman, convened the House Special Committee on Fisheries meeting at 5:00 p.m. PRESENT Committee members present at the call to order were Representatives Austerman, Ivan, Ogan and Hodgins. SUMMARY OF INFORMATION RONALD BERG, Chief, Fisheries Management Division, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, National Marine Fisheries Service, U.S. Department of Commerce, presented an overview of the federal fisheries management off Alaska and answered questions. COMMITTEE ACTION The committee took no action. ADJOURNMENT The meeting was adjourned at 6:55 p.m. NOTE: The meeting was recorded and handwritten log notes were taken.
